About me

I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have experience of counselling both individuals and couples and supporting clients with sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction, vaginismus, loss of desire and out of control sexual behaviours.
In addition to my private practice, I work part time as a psychosexual counsellor for the NHS where I support clients with sexual problems, including out of control sexual behaviours. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for ten years with the NHS as a dietitian, supporting clients with a variety of medical and mental health issues.
I use elements drawn from a number of different therapeutic origins including psychodynamic, gestalt, CBT and neurobiology so I can best tailor therapy to your individual needs. I regularly update my training so I can bring the latest skills and techniques into my work. I may offer my own insight and perspective on occasion, if it seems appropriate, as this was one of the things I liked about my own experience of personal counselling. That said, I will give you all the space you need to talk and explore. I see my role as your co-pilot or navigator in the process.
Friends tell me that I am warm, approachable and a great listener. I take my job seriously but I do have a good sense of humour too, so we can share the lighter moments of sessions together.
Do get in touch to talk through your needs, and if it turns out that I am not the right counsellor for you, I will be happy to help point you in the right direction or recommend other services. If you would like to do a bit more research around counselling and what to expect from sessions, BACP have some excellent videos and resources.

Claire helped me to get through some dark times after my relationship ended - counselling felt like having my hand held until I was able to go it alone.
